Hi. I am Joshua.

I spent all of high school wishing someone would just give me straight answers about getting into medicine. What classes actually matter. What extracurriculars admissions committees care about. Whether I needed to shadow a doctor or if volunteering at a clinic counted. How to pay for any of it.

Nobody gave me those answers. The information was out there, scattered across hundreds of websites, forums, and Reddit threads, but none of it was organized, verified, or written for someone who was just starting out. The “helpful” resources I found were either trying to sell me a $10,000 consulting package or written in language that assumed I already knew what an AMCAS was.

So I built this site.

I am a college freshman, a certified EMT, and an Eagle Scout. I started building Pathway to Medicine during high school because I wanted the resource I wished existed when I was 14 years old and first thought about becoming a doctor. I am still figuring it out alongside you.

Why I do this for free

The path to medicine is already expensive enough. Students should not have to pay for the information they need to even get started. Every page on this site is free, every resource is sourced, and every recommendation prioritizes free options over paid ones. Pathway to Medicine is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, funded entirely by donations.

What drives this project

I believe that a student in rural Connecticut and a student in downtown Houston should have access to the same quality of information about their future. Geography, income, and connections should not determine whether you can navigate the path to medical school. That is the gap this site exists to close.

If you ever have questions, need help, or just want to talk about your journey, reach out. I personally read every message.

Cura Ut Valeas. Take care that you may be well.
