Pipeline programs and pre-med resources
UVM Larner College of Medicine offers a curriculum emphasizing primary care, community engagement, and rural health, reflecting the healthcare needs of Vermont and northern New England. The school has strong connections to community health centers throughout Vermont, providing clinical training in diverse settings.
For undergraduate students, UVM offers pre-health advising and research opportunities through the Larner College of Medicine and affiliated research centers. The Vermont Area Health Education Centers (AHEC) program provides health careers pipeline activities for students at all levels.
Vermont’s small size and tight-knit medical community mean that pre-med students have opportunities for mentoring and shadowing relationships that can be harder to find in larger states.
For students in Vermont, we recommend starting with our level-specific guides: Middle School, High School, or Undergraduate. See also our What Is Pre-Med? and Pre-Med Requirements pages.
